Brendan Teague, a Sydney resident, is in a humorous predicament, expressing outrage at the government for its tax policies that he claims are causing house prices to decline and simultaneously blaming its immigration policies for making them unaffordable. Teague, who purchased his home for $380,000 in 2003, now valued at $2.1 million, believes the government's actions could cause his property's value to drop by 3-4%.
Teague humorously rants, "We simply can't have this extra demand driving up prices and making it impossible for young people to get into the property market. Unless it's in my suburb, in which case it's called 'capital growth', which is totally different."
When asked what the government should do, Teague sarcastically suggests, "The government needs to ensure that property prices rise significantly for current homeowners while making them dramatically cheaper for anyone trying to buy one. Surely that's not too much to ask."
